About Us
To reduce stigma and heal out community by making culturally appropriate mental and substance use disorders services readily available for those seeking to improve their quality of life.
Who are we?
The Santa Cruz County Overcoming Addiction (SOSA) Consortium is a network of organizations engaged in prevention, treatment, recovery and workforce development initiatives around substance use disorder (SUD) in Santa Cruz County, Arizona. The SOSA Consortium began in 2019 with the support of a Health Resources Services Administration Rural Communities Opioid Response Planning Grant.
Our Accomplishments
Since 2019, the SOSA Consortium has increased collaboration between behavioral and primary care providers to support patients with SUD/OUD. There have been innovative collaborations between EMS, peer support specialists, and telemedicine. In 2019-2020, training for 223 community members, paraprofessionals, and health providers was provided.
Community members, paraprofessionals, and health providers training increased in 2020-2021. Almost 650 community members received training by SOSA community partners through virtual and in-person events. The consortium has been successful with growing partner relationships and community engagement. Improved access to services has helped the community to treat and address substance abuse.
