Tobacco / Vaping
Did you know that the Mariposa Youth Colation and YADA groups are actively educating teens in our community on the harms of vaping and smoking?
WHAT IS TOBACCO/VAPING?
Tobacco and Vape products are addictive substances that contain the chemical Nicotine.
Teens are highly susceptible to using Vape products, especially because it is a legal substance and can be easy to access, please talk to your teen about Vape products and check out the parent and youth resources tab.
Tobacco is a plant that contains the addictive chemical Nicotine. Cigarettes contain over 2,000 chemicals that harm your body and brain and can cause different types of cancers. These products not only harm the user but also the people around them through secondhand smoke/vape inhalation. Parents who smoke around their children increase their chances of having asthma attacks, respiratory infections, ear infections, and sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). Vape products contain extremely high amounts of nicotine, vape products are increasingly harder to quit using.
HOW IS IT USED?
Smoked as a cigarette, cigar, or hookah.
Inhaled or vaped, which is an aerosolized version of the chemicals.
Oral consumption through smokeless chewing tobacco or snus.
